War Eagle Mill

War Eagle Mill

Nestled along the banks of War Eagle Creek, the War Eagle Mill stands as a picturesque living monument to Arkansas’s pastoral history.

This working gristmill, famous for its vibrant red facade and massive eighteen-foot undershot waterwheel, is actually the fourth structure to occupy the site, as its predecessors fell victim to floods and the Civil War. Today, it serves as a bustling hub for traditional craftsmanship, where organic grains are still stone-ground into flour and meal much like they were in the 1830s.

Visitors are drawn not only to the rhythmic splashing of the wheel and the smell of fresh cornbread from the upstairs cafe but also to the iconic high-clearance steel bridge nearby, making the entire grounds a quintessential Ozark landmark for history buffs and photographers alike.
